PORTUGAL

Regeneration of degraded lands by introducing different crops, creating soil resilience retaining sequestered carbon and boost biodiversity.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

With our "Terra Vida" programme we hope to provide the maximum regeneration of land and soils by use of well known, tried and tested methods elsewhere across the globe.

In our carefully selected land parcels we that we either

  • directly farm ourselves or

  • develop and manage for our clients

we will in our initial phase plant Nopal Opuntia which will be sourced from Organic and certified nurseries within Portugal.

Nopal Opuntia  is most efficient at removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere- whilst most importantly locking it up permanently within the soil structure.

It is perfectly designed, by mother nature, to photosynthesise and decarbonise the atmosphere simultaneously and whilst doing so having the potential to  sequester up to 30T of CO2 / Ha.

By sequestering carbon back into the soils it will have the impact of encouraging regeneration of the soil structure whilst providing employment to those who develop and manage the lands.

By vigorous monitoring, measurement and validation of our processes it can be proven that our Terra Vida Soil regeneration model is both profitable and sustainable for both us and our clients.

With a comparatively Low Capital Investment a successful, regenerative and profitable model can be created - essentially from dust.

Terra Vida will also have the potential to provide produce fruits, feedstock and biomass for Bioenergy thus realising the circular economy potential for our program.

It can work in tandem with other renewable activities such as solar and wind.

And most importantly - leaving the land in a better place than where we found it.
